Our Tax Preparation Process

Welcome to our online tax preparation services. We are excited that you are ready to get started on your taxes! Please review the list below to begin preparing your tax returns. We can finalize your tax returns completely online from the convenience of your home!

The following steps will take you through a simple, online process to begin submitting your tax preparation information to our team. This ensures a comprehensive tax return and an economic tax preparation fee.

1. GATHER YOUR TAX DOCUMENTS

Based on your last year's tax return, you can begin gather your tax documents for the current year. You can watch our short video for a simple strategy on getting started: [coming soon!]

  • NEW CLIENTS: Based on our consultation, you will receive an estimate before proceeding.
  • RETURNING CLIENTS: Submit your tax documents in our secure client portal. You can also download a tax preparation checklist and/or worksheets [INSERT LINK HERE].

Important: Please include any new/updated contact information such as: address, new email, bank account and/or additional dependent(s) for the tax year.

2. SUBMIT YOUR TAX DOCUMENTS

Send us your tax documents securely through our secure file upload form exchange and we will alert you through email upon receipt of your items. A tax admin reviews the upload for missing information and contacts you with open items if necessary. All submissions are uploaded to our Secure Client Portal immediately for historical safekeeping. We take the security and safety of your personal information very seriously.

Secure Dropbox

You can place your document securely in our after hours drop box. Please note, we do not check this box regularly. Please contact us after you have placed your documents in the box by texting, calling, or sending an email.

If you prefer to fax your tax documents, our fax number is (218) 736-9085. Please email [email protected] to confirm receipt of fax.

Mailing Address

If you do not have access to a fax machine or scanner, you may also mail your information to us. You can also securely mail us your documents using the address below. Documents will be automatically scanned and shredded for security purposes.

Please note, as part of our policy, there is a fee applicable for scheduling and conducting any in-person meetings, ensuring dedicated time and resources are allocated appropriately.

3. TAX PREPARATION BEGINS

Once all of your required documents have been received, we will being preparing your tax return. Please make sure we have your preferred contact information for timely communication throughout the process. If we are waiting on documents it will delay the completion of your return.

We require all documents to be received by March 31st to guarantee timely filed personal returns.

It is our goal to provide you with an accurate tax return within 7 business days.

4. PAY OUR FEES

Once your return is completed we will send you an invoice electronically to your email. We will not file your tax return until you have signed documents giving us permission to file first and we have received full payment of our fees.

  • Pay your tax preparation fees electronically.
  • Full payment is required before filing.
  • Once paid we will send a copy of your return to review before filing.

Once our fees have been paid in full we will send a copy of your return to review, finalize, and approve.

5. REVIEW, FINALIZE & APPROVE

Once tax returns are ready for review, we will send a secure copy via the client portal. We will request a detailed review of all name(s), address(s), identification number(s) and reported tax return information before approval to e-file. If changes are requested, an updated copy with final returns will be emailed for final approval.

  • We will provide authorization forms securely which will allow you to sign electronically. This will include our engagement letter and e-file authorization for federal and state tax returns.
  • Read, sign & date your forms no later than 1 day after your receive them

If you have questions or comments regarding your returns, you can respond to those directly by replying to the message containing your tax return. We ALWAYS want you to understand your tax returns and feel 100% comfortable about the information being filed. Therefore, a 30 minute detailed review of your taxes via remote meeting will be provided if necessary.

Within 3 days after e-filing, you will receive a confirmation email from our tax software that your tax returns have been Acknowledged, Received & Accepted from the appropriate tax agencies.

  • ImportantWe are unable to provide updates on the status of your tax return once we have e-filed. It's not that we don't want to help, we just don't receive any more information once the return is accepted.
  • Refund: Federal and State refund timing varies. Delivery of your refund(s) may be delayed if your return for further review. The IRS typically issues refunds in less than 21 days. The Department of Treasury Offset Program may offset your tax refund to pay delinquent federal student loans, child support or other debt. Call the Treasury Offset program call center at 800-304-3107 if you have questions. You can use the IRS Where's My Refund? tool or call the IRS at 800-829-1954 to check the status of your refund, beginning 24 hours after you e-file. The IRS will provide an actual refund date as soon as your tax return and refund are approved.
  • Balance Due: If you have a Federal balance due, go to Direct Pay at IRS.gov or mail-in a check to pay your balance by April 15. If you have a State balance due you can pay the balance by credit/debit card or check. Follow instructions to avoid additional penalties/fees. For your convenience we have also included Payment Voucher documents with instructions on how to pay your balance due.
  • Estimated Tax Payments: For returns with a balance due, we provide guidance on estimated tax payments to streamline your payment process. If you owe taxes, it's essential to plan ahead to avoid penalties and interest charges. We'll include detailed instructions on how to make estimated tax payments directly to the IRS for federal balances due. You can utilize IRS Direct Pay on IRS.gov or mail in a check by the deadline, typically April 15th. For state balances due, options may include payment by credit/debit card or check, along with specific instructions to prevent additional penalties or fees. If you have any questions or need further assistance regarding estimated tax payments, please don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or send a message via our secure client portal.
